Bridget HEHIR was convicted at Co. Clare on 28 Oct 1850 for stealing a cow. (Previous similar charge)10yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) per the ‘Blackfriar’ arriving 29 May 1851.

Aged 20yrs; single; country servant; 5’1”; Roman Catholic.
Native Place: County Clare, Ireland.

Various work assignments in the Colony.
27 March 1855: Ticket of Leave granted.
25 Nov 1856: Conditional Pardon approved.

n.b. There was another convict transported named Bridget Hehir - per the ‘Earl Grey’ in 1850. (Also a Mary Hehir and mother Ann Hehir on same ship. Also an Honora Hehir on board, with a child - Honora died at sea. ?child) Seem to be another family, but from Clare so could be related. (A total of 9 people named Hehir were transported to VDL plus others arriving free)
