1833: On arrival in VDL, he was single. He had previous convictions for stealing and hard served in total about 7 months in jail (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-21$init=CON31-1-21p26). 1839: He received a Ticket of Leave No.264 (see Tasmania, Australia, Convict Court and Selected Records, 1800-1899). 1841: Muster - William Henderson was listed as free by servitude (see New South Wales and Tasmania, Australia Convict Musters, 1806-1849).


NOTE: A William Henderson, biscuit baker from Edinburgh, was originally a co-accused - but was not tried - with David Simpson and Robert Philips who were convicted for theft (stealing flour) at the High Court, Edinburgh, on 8 November 1832. Simpson and Philips were also transported to VDL per Isabella. --00-- 1832, 4 April: William Henderson was received aboard the Retribution hulk at Woolwich. He was listed as 18, tried at Edinburgh and convicted for theft on 5 March 1832. He was sent from the hulk for transportation on 14 June 1833 (see UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849).


1832: Precognition against William Henderson for the crime of theft, habit and repute at West Circus Place, Edinburgh. Accused: William Henderson, Age: 18, baker, Address: Boyd's Close, Canongate, Edinburgh, with his aunt Ann Ross or Young. Victim: John Burnet, West Circus Place, Edinburgh (see National Records of Scotland; Reference AD14/32/361). --0-- 1832, 19 February: Trial papers relating to William Henderson for the crime of theft, habit and repute at West Circus Place, Edinburgh. Tried at High Court, Edinburgh. [Note: His hulk record and his VDL Conduct Record give the date of his trial as 5 March 1832.] Accused: William Henderson, Verdict: Guilty, Sentence: Transportation - 8 years [should be 7 years] Victim: John Burnet, West Circus Place, Edinburgh (see National Records of Scotland; Reference JC26/1832/12). --00--
