Tried at High Court, Edinburgh Dates 17 Jun 1839 Accused Thomas Gorrie, Verdict: Guilty, Sentence: Transportation - 10 years Previous convictions: theft - Edinburgh police court, 12 December 1837. William Hendrie, Verdict: Guilty, Sentence: Transportation - 14 years Previous convictions: theft - Edinburgh police court, 12 December 1837. Thomas Gorrie was also on board the Maitland. William Hendrie was 21 years old on arrival : Natrive Place: Glasgow. William was literate, Presbyterian, married with 1 female child, 5'4¾" tall, sallow and a little pockpitted complexion, brown hair, dark hazel eyes, lost part of a middle front upper tooth, scar over right eyebrow, another outside same eye, raised mole back of neck, scar back of lower right arm, scar back of each thumb.
