Dublin Weekly Register Dublin, Republic of Ireland 6 Jul 1833 At the Waterford sessions, Friday, William Herring and Samuel Brough were sentenced to seven years’ transportation, for stealing a watch and wearing apparel. The prisoners were privates in the 70th regiment, and deserted from off guard, taking away articles belonging to a comrade. No ship found for Samuel Brough. William Herring was listed as 26 years old on arrival. Native Place: Middlesex. William was literate, Protestant, single, 5'8 tall, ruddy and pockpitted complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, lost one front upper tooth, scar on right elbow, several small moles right arm, scar ball of left thumb. 3/1/1842: COF
