John Hickey was born C1773. 1794: Married Ann Marks at Westminster, Middlesex, England – they had 6 children. 14/1/1818: Ann Marks and the children arrived free per ‘Friendship’. 25/5/1814: Old Bailey: JOHN HICKEY was indicted for that he, on the 2nd of May, feloniously and without lawful excuse, had in his custody and possession, a forged bank note, for the payment of 5 l . To this indictment the prisoner pleaded GUILTY , aged 17. Transported for Fourteen Years . ‘John was actually 41 at the time of his trial.’ Second Middlesex jury, before Mr. Recorder. JOHN HICKEY was indicted for feloniously forging, disposing of, and putting away, a forged bank note for the payment of 5 l. he knowing it to be forged, with intention to defraud the Governor and Company of the Bank of England, and also to defraud Abraham Lee . Mr. Knapp, declining to offer any evidence, the prisoner was ACQUITTED . 1822 Census: John was aged 49, living in Sydney City and had a Conditional Pardon. Ann and the 6 children were also listed. 1828 Census: Was a Patrick Plains, Hunter, NSW. Hickey, John, 55, Indefatigable, 1815, Protestant, farmer at Abberly Lodge, Pat. Plns. Hickey, John (Jun), 22, Friendship, 1817, Protestant Hickey, Allen, 19, Friendship, 1817, Protestant Hickey, Ann, 56, Friendship, Protestant 1836: John died aged 63 - Registration Place: Black Creek, Bulwarra, Cloden, East Maitland, Hinton, Hunter District, Maitland, Morpeth, West Maitland, New South Wales. Ann died 31/7/1846 aged 76 at Lyndley, Lower Hunter, NSW.
