On Thursday morning, Martin Bulstrim, owner of a Galway sail boat, lying at the Long Dock, was found dead in the cabin. Same evening, the Mayor held an inquest on the body; the son and nephew of deceased were examined, and proved having opened the hatch of the small cabin, in the morning, and found their relative suffocated. Another person admitted having gone with two others, the night before into the cabin, where Bulstrim lay asleep. carried off a box of his, and then fastened down the hatch over his head . Mr. G. Ryan,. Apothecary to the Dispensary, was examined ; his belief was that the man died of suffocation ; he examined his person, and observed no marks of violence thereon. Surgeon Thwaites was also examined, and confirmed the testimony of Mr. Ryan. On a full consideration of the circumstances, the Jury found found a verdict that Martin Bulstrim expired of suffocation, Patrick Higgins and Edmond Rice having wilfully and maliciously closed the hatchment on him.
