Christopher HISLOP was convicted at Edinburgh, Scotland on 28 Nov 1836 for theft - stealing a watch. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Elphinstone' arriving 2 Oct 1837. Aged 26yrs; gardener; Assignments of service work in the Colony of VDL. Nov 1841: Ticket of Leave granted. 1843: Conditional Pardon approved. 1845: Free Certificate 1842: Marriage to Janet SCRIMGEOUR (transported per 'Garland Grove') at Evandale, Launceston district.
