John HOARE was convicted at Surrey, England on 3 Aug 1840 for burglary - housebreaking and stealing a silver plate and coat. 15 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Asia' arriving 21 Aug 1841. Aged 20yrs; single man; cabinet maker & French polisher; 5'6 1/2"; Protestant; can read. Native Place: Truro, Cornwall. Mother: Susan (ref. Convict Indent) Brothers: William & Samuel Sisters: Susan & Mary 2yr Probation Period in Colony. Stationed at Rocky Hills. Assigned to work services. 24 Oct 1848: Ticket of Leave granted. 6 April 1852: Conditional Pardon approved.
