South Eastern Gazette 7 July 1840 - George Hodge 19 for stealing two live tame rabbits value 2 shillings the property of Frend Daniel at Tunbridge - Transported for 7 years. West Kent Quarter Sessions - George was found guilty of theft and was sentenced to 7 years Transportation. He was taken from the Gaol at Maidstone and arrived at the Hulk "Warrior" 16 July 1840. He spent nearly two years on the hulk with his behaviour recorded as "good" until he boarded the ship "Eden" bound for Van Diemans Land on 7th March 1842.
