Philip Hogan was transported on the Friendship, departing 24th Aug 1799 and arriving 16th Feb 1800 with 161 passengers.

This convict ship, being 274 tons and 75 feet long was one of the light weight ships in the fllet and was skippered by Master Francis Walton. Built in Scarborough in 1784, she carried 76 male and 21 female convicts. During her return voyage to England her crew came down with scurvy and with insufficient crew to man her, she was scuttled in the straights of Macassar. The survivors were transferred to the Alexander.

Family connections for Philip (Hogan) are: Some amendments added Aug 2025. HOGAN Philip (Hogan/Clonnell) was born about 1766. He was tried as an Irish rebel at Clonmel Asizes Tipperary Ireland, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 16 2 1800 after a voyage of 6months on FRIENDSHIP. He was recorded in 1806 at Parramatta & seems to have been issued his Ticket of Leave in this year. He was working for Samuel (Marsden the floging parson) at 'Mamre' South Creek when he started a relationship with Mary (McMahon her first relationship) whom he later married on 26 3 1810 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. He was Free by Servitude by 1811 & was issued his Conditional Pardon in this year & granted his Freeedom. He was granted land at Liverpool in 1821. He was recorded in 1822-4 as land holder at Liverpool with his family. He was recorded in 1825 as landholder at Bringelly with his children. He died on 23 5 1829 age63 & was buried in Old Catholic Cemetery St Patricks North Parramatta. She was sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 12 5 1803 after a voyage of 6months on ROLLA. She was Free by Servitude by 1811. She was recorded in 1822-4 Free by Servitude at Liverpool with her family. She married secondly John (White) & is recorded with him in 1841. Phillip (Hogan) & Mary (McMahon) produced perhaps 13children: 1.Michael (Hogan) was born in 1804. He was granted land at Liverpool in 1821. He was recorded in 1822-4 as land holder at Liverpool & in 1825 as landholder at Appin. He is recorded as living at Bong Bong & marrying Catherine (Scott) on 26 9 1826 at St Marys RC Sydney-although the mother of his children is named as Catherine (Rogers). He died in January 1841 age about36. ..Catherine (Rogers/Scott) was born about 1804. Patrick (Hanrahan) joined Catherine (Hogan) after 1822 & married her secondly on 15 1 1851 at Brisbane Valley. In 1828 he was a landholder at Woodford with 50acres with his children Patrick, John, Michael, Philip, Mary Ann. It would appear that Mary was no longer with Philip in 1825. In 1828, I can find no record of Philip at all.

In the colony, Philip married Mary McMahon (Convict, Rolla, 1803). They married at Parramatta in 1810. Name: Mary Mcmahon Spouse Name: Philip Hogan Marriage Date: 1810 Marriage Place: New South Wales Registration Place: Parramatta, New South Wales Registration Year: 1810 Volume Number: V A Philip and Mary had 9 children, between 1805 and 1824.
