In July 1831 the accused Henry Hoggan and the 'notorious' Lauchlin MacIntosh were convicted at the High Court of Justiciary - having on 9 April 1831 in Chalmers Close assaulted a James Good and robbing him of eight half-crowns and 3/- of silver. Both received transportation for Life and conveyed together on 31 October 1831 on the ship Gilmore. In July 1833 Macintosh escaped from Hobart Town and returned to Edinburgh - where in October 1835 he was arrested for attempted housebreaking.
