Essex Summer Assize. John Holgate, labourer, was convicted of stealing from the person of stealing from the person of William Pain, at Epping, a watch, a handkerchief, and  other articles, his property. A prior conviction was proved. The learned Judge said that imprisonment not having had the proper effect, he should send him out of the country, and accordingly sentenced him to 14 years' transportation. Essex Standard, 20 July 1833.
