Dysentery is said to have been the cause of death, from which the complaint has suffered a length of time. A subscription list is going about for the relief of the family of the deceased. It is a remarkable fact that the majority of deaths in York have taken place on the east side of the river. Whether the mortality is to be attributable to the state of the water is a matter to be considered, and should receive the best attention. It is a well-known fact that many of the inhabitants on the east side of the river use the water from the old Government well. Taking the position of the well being much lower than the Cemetery and the distance from each other not being great the probability is, the well receives a great portion of the drainage, and by which means dangerous consequences would ensue.
