Family connections for James (Holland) are: HOLLAND James (Holland) was tried for theft at Clerkenwell Middlesex Sessions of Peace, sentenced to 7years, held at London Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 14 2 1792 after a voyage of 8months on PITT; much fever & attempts to escape from the ship resulted in deaths of convicts-of the 450convicts on board only 29 were alive at muster in May 1792 (or perhaps only this many could be mustered). He had a relationship with Martha (Edwards her first relationship). He was Free by Servitude by 1801. He went to Norfolk Island on PERSEUS? in 1801. His sentence had expired when he died on 1 7 1803 by drowning. [Some details taken from this Website] Martha (Edwards) was born about 8 5 1774 & became a house servant. She was tried for burglary at Hereford Assizes or Middlesex (Ref:'Exiled...'), sentenced to death commuted to Life (or7years) & arrived in NSW as a convict on 18 7 1798 after a voyage of 6months on BRITANNIA. She was sent to Norfolk Island in 1801. She was recorded as off stores on Norfolk Island in 1802. She had a second relationship with John (Barnes) & produced a child. She was recorded as off stores on Norfolk Island February 1805. She left the island with her family on 25 12 1807 as part of the first evacuation on HMS PORPOISE to Derwent Van Diemens Land (Tasmania), arriving on 17 1 1808; to land at New Norfolk Derwent Valley. She was recorded as off stores in the Hobart Town muster on 2 10 1818 (as (Holland). She died on 20 3 1846 age71/80 mother of 3known children & was buried at St Stephens Back River New Norfolk Tasmania. He was recorded as being taken off stores in November 1802. He was recorded as off stores on Norfolk island in February 1805. [He is recorded in Smees records & Ref:'People...' as dying on 11 7 1805 age13 on Norfolk Island] However his namesake? left the island with his mother on 25 12 1807 as part of the first evacuation on HMS PORPOISE to Derwent Van Diemens Land (Tasmania), arriving on 17 1 1808; to land at New Norfolk Derwent Valley. He is recorded as James (Holland) off stores in Hobart Town on 2 10 1818 & was contracting meat to the Government in December 1818. He married, as James (Barnes), Sophia (Daniels her first relationship) on 31 1 1822 at New Norfolk. He had been granted 33acres at New Norfolk (which became Henry (Anson)s Jolly Ploughmans Inn in 1834) & was contracting meat to the Government in December 1822. He was convicted of stealing pine boards, on 17 5 1826, at Hobart Supreme Court in July 1826, sentenced to 7years & sent to Maria Island; he became a constable while there & was in trouble again for stealing shoes-recieving 25lashes & being dismissed as constable. He is also recorded as stealing (from William (Foyle) in May 1834.>>> ..Sophia (Daniels) was born on 17/21 9 1805 in NSW & baptised on 17 11 1805 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She was provided for in Will of her father in 1819. When her husband was taken to Maria Island in 1826 she cohabited secondly with James (Triffitt) senior & produced 3children. She married, as Elizabeth (Barnes age15), James (Triffe/itt) on 20 11 1815 at St Davids CofE Hobart & produced 11children.
