Crown Court 13 prisoners were tried, nine of whom were capitally convicted, and received sentence of death, viz.— Thomas Holland, aged 38. for feloniously stealing in the dwelling house, of Thomas Jeffery, divers articles of wearing apparel. … The unhappy convicts were all reprieved before Judges left town. Sussex Advertiser, 28 March 1814.
