Ellen HOLLIS was convicted at Co. Tyrone, Ireland on 15 April 1850 for stealing hams. Previous conviction for stealing potatoes. 10 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) per the ship ‘Blackfriar’ arriving 29 May 1851. Ship surgeon’s report: “Very good”.
Aged 31yrs; country servant; fair complexion; lt brown hair; blue eyes; blind in right eye; can read; Protestant.
Single woman - 1 child, Thomas 8 yrs old (who accompanied on board the ship)
Native place: Co. Tyrone, Ireland.
Father: William (family members as recorded on Convict Indent)
