Kesteven Sessions. John Hollis, late of Foston, for feloniously stealing one sack, two pecks of wheat, ten tame hens, and one tame cock, the property of Robert Treadgold; also charged, on a second indictment, together with Robert Reynolds, late of Foston, with feloniously stealing one piece of striped toilenet, one piece of woollen cord, one piece of drab kerseymere, one piece of olive superfine broad cloth, three pieces of blue pelisse cloth, one piece of blue broad cloth, and one piece of black cloth, the property of Paul Wilson;— and the said John Hollis and Robert Reynolds further charged, on a third indictment, with feloniously stealing one skep, one wininowing cloth, two sacks, and one plough-colter, the property of John Lee;—the said Robert Reynolds was acquitted, and John Hollis was sentenced to  years’ transportation. Stamford Mercury, 23 Jan 1829.

Baptised 3 Oct 1788 Barrowby Lincolnshire. Married Elizabeth Sharpe (1789-1842) 27 May 1811 at Barrowby. Elizabeth died Foston Lincolnshire and buried 8 Dec 1842. They had 11 children before he was sentenced. Nothing known of John after Freedom granted 15 Jan 1843.




Arrived 31 July 1833. Dish and bowl turner and musician. Assigned to Alexander Brunton, cabinet and chair maker, of Macquarie Street Hobart. Transferred to George Kent of Bathurst Street.
