29/8/1855: COF - Described as: A Labourer, born 1827, native Place: Kilkenny, 5’3” tall, fair ruddy and freckled complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes, scar over the right eyebrow, cross back of right hand, jagged scar inside forefinger of left hand.  Held TOF dated 30/11/1849.

1862: James selected a 60 acre lot at Waterview, near Grafton.

1869: Selected 21 acres.

1876: Selected 61 acres.
The area was known as First Falls and later Eatonsville.

20/5/1900: James Holmes died and was buried at South Grafton, NSW.
