Convict Notes

Catherine Graham and Margaret Holmes were sentenced to seven years’ transportation, and Mary Cassidy, to six months imprisonment, for robbing Mrs. Boss, of Phibbsborough, of shawl, in Mary’s-lane. Margaret Holmes, hearing the sentence, gave expression to the bitterest curses against the Court and Jury, and hastily took off her two shoes, one of which with good aim, she threw at watchman, (Hill,) and the other at Phillips, one the Newgate officers, who was endeavouring to remove her from the bar to the dock. Dublin Evening Packet, 21 July 1832.
