Per "Hindostan", 1821 1823 May 19 - On list of prisoners assigned (Fiche 3290; 4/4570D p.55) 1823 Jun - On return of convicts discharged from the Establishment, Emu Plains; to Mr R Scott (Reel 6028; 2/8283 p.143) 1823 Jun 2 - Convict servant of Robert Scott. To be victualled from the Stores at Newcastle for six months (Reel 6010; 4/3508 p.427) 1823 Jun 11 - Government servant of Robert & Helenus Scott. Between 1859 and 1861 there is only one death registered in NSW BDM to the name Thomas Holmes, namely a man who died on 2 May 1860 in Sydney. This Thomas was not a convict he came out on the "Elizabeth" in 1827 as a free man. He was married to Miriam, Wade. He was a carpenter by trade and bought quite a lot of land in the Dungog area. I have his death certificate, which gives his occupation as farmer - he and his wife are both buried at the Clarence Town Anglican Cemetery.
Thomas was indented to an ex-convict Patrick Maloney on Wallis Plains (Sth Maitland). He was granted his Cert of Freedom 17/01/1828. He married Mary Ann Holmes (then still a convict) by consent of the Governor (Granted 14/11/1829), on 19/01/1830 at Dagworth.
