Family connections for John (Holt) are: HOLT John (Holt) was born about 1784/99. He was tried for burglary & stealing monies of William (Manser) of Rye & wearing apparral of Sir (Ashburnham) bart. of Guestling, at Horsham Sussex Assizes on 25 3 1816, sentenced to death reprieved to Life, held on hulk in Portsmouth Harbour Hampshire from 21 5 1816 & arrived in NSW on 8 3 1817 after a voyage of 5months on FAME; he was Protestant. He had been issued his Ticket of Leave no.28/334 for Parramatta & was a shoemaker age23 when he received permision to marry on 10 4 1822 & did so to Sarah (Trueman age27 her second marriage) in May 1822 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. He was recorded in 1828 as shoemaker at Parrammatta with his wife. He was Free by Servitude by 1829. He was later issued a Ticket of Leave no.44/2604 for Parramatta. He was issued his Conditional Pardon no.51/0213 on 1 7 1851. [Some details taken from this Website] Sarah (Trueman) was born about 1787/95. She had a relationship that produced a child. She was tried at Salop (Shropshire) Town & Boro of Oswestry Quarter Session, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict with her daughter on 30 9 1820 after a voyage of 4.5months on MORLEY; she was Protestant. She was recorded in 1828 at Parrammatta with her husband. She was Free by Servitude by 1829. he died about 1873 age about86 mother of at least 2children. The following eight prisoners were capitally convicted, and received sentence of Death, but were reprieved before the Judge left the town. John Heoo, alias Holt and James Gains, for entering the dwelling house of William Manser at Rye, and stealing therefrom various notes and monies, the property of the said Wm. Manser and Manser jun. and also for entering the mansion house of Sir Ashburnham, bart. at Guestling, and stealing therefrom various articles of wearing apparel, his property; Hampshire Chronicle, 1 April 1816.
