Per "Guildford", 1816. 1816 Apr 15 On list of convicts disembarked from the "Guildford" and forwarded to Windsor for distribution (Reel 6004; 4/3494 p.464) 1818 Feb 26 Commutation warrant (Reel 6070; 4/7020 No.50) 1818 Mar 13 On list of convicts to be sent to Newcastle per "Lady Nelson" (Reel 6006; 4/3498 p.87) 1818 Mar 14 Death sentence commuted to transportation for life to Newcastle. To be wrought in irons for some time at Newcastle (Reel 6006; 4/3498 p.86) ----------------------------------------------------- SATURDAY.—The Court assembled at a quarter before nine, and proceeded to the trial of James Fitzpatrick, John Hopkins, and Patrick Sloane, charged with burglary and robbery in the house of John Browne, at the lower Branch of the Hawkesbury River, in October last ; and the trial was of such length as to permit us only to say, that the three prisoners were found guilty—Death. Sydney Gazette, 31 Jan 1818. Criminal Court.—Yesterday the Sessions terminated, and sentence of Death was passed upon fifteen malefactors, capitally convicted of various offences, viz.:—William O'Neil for highway robbery; John Fitzpatrick, and John Hopkins, for burglary and robbery in the house of John Brown, at Portland Head; … Patrick Hoane, for being accessary to the offence for which James Fitzpatrick and John Hopkins had received sentence of Death, to be transported to Newcastle for the term of his natural life.
