Robert was convicted, along with Patrick Noonan (also onboard the 'Cadet') for shooting Patrick Shine. Life sentence. He had been on a Hulk for 8/9 months before departure for Van Diemens Land. Gaol Report: Indifferent Surgeon's Report: Middling Plasterer; Married, 4 children; Roman Catholic; can read; 5'7 1/2"; 32yrs of age; fresh complexion; dk brown hair; dk brown eyebrows; Hazel eyes. Native Place: Co. Limerick. Wife: Mary Brother: Morris Sisters: Ellen & Mary Colonial Record: Convict no. 34297. Station Gang: Buckland - 30 months. 1845: Lovely Banks (large estate north of Hobart) 09/07/1847: Hobart - out after hours - admonished. No Ticket of Leave or Pardon recorded in Record Book. No record of death on Pioneer Index.




Convicted at Limerick 22 July 1843 of murder. Death sentence, commuted to life transportation.
