John HOWELL was convicted at Lincoln on 9 March 1833 for stealing a sheep. Gaol report stated he had been convicted before with a transportation sentence given however he denied this. Life Sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Isabella' arriving 13 Nov 1833. VDL: Assigned to the Marine Dept. Several records of misconduct and punishments. Sent to the Road Gang at Perth, Tasmania. 20 May 1842: Ticket of Leave granted. July 1845: Conditional Pardon approved.
