At Nottingham Assizes which ended on Saturday, Paul Hufton was indicted for breaking and entering the House of Joshua Knight, of Nuttall, in the Day-Time, and stealing thereout various Articles of Wearing Apparel, &c. and being found guilty, received Sentence of Death. Derby Mercury, 19 July 1787.

National Archives. HO 47/6/88 1787 Aug 8 Certificate/memorial of William Henry Ashhurst on prisoners capitally convicted on the Midland Circuit, but 'some favourable Circumstances' appeared on/after their trial and recommended to mercy on the condition set against their names: Nottinghamshire Summer Assizes at Nottingham Paul Hufton, for housebreaking. 7 years transportation.
