Hugh McILROY was variously also called by others: Hugh McKay, or McCoy or variant spellings on McILROY like McROY, McAlroy, Muckleory, Mackleroy. He was tried at Armagh in August 1797 and given a seven year transportation sentence. He was Protestant, a weaver, and had different ages recorded. 38 on his arrival in 1800 (so born 1762) 31 on other arrival papers (so born 1769) 61 in 1828 Census, (so born 1767). In Nsw in 1801 he was listed as a gardener living at Parramatta. He was free by servitude in August 1804 and was recorded as such in the 1806 NSW Muster, a labourer at Parramatta. On 9 November 1807 he married Ann Cork at St Johns in Parramatta. In the 1814 Muster he was still a labourer, Free, together with his wife Ann, residing at Parramatta. Through out all subsequent musters and the 1828 Census he was a labourer, residing at Parramatta with wife Ann. Hugh and Ann were the witnesses at the marriages of several people: * August 1810, James Union and Sarah Finkin * Sept 1814, Martha Hughes (Wanstead) in NSW only 9 month, and William Day (Irish ex * Feb 1815, Henry Taylor (per "Anne") and Elizabeth Lloyd (per "Speke" in 1814). * January 1816, Hannah Grimes & Joseph Spencer ("Baring") * August 1816 James Williams ("Guidford") and Sarah adams per "Broxbournebury" * April 1820 John Clarke per "Glatton: and Martha Wales per "Alexander". In the 1822 Land & Stock muster he had 2 hogs In 1823 he was the regostered lessee of a town allotment in Phillip St, Parramatta (No. 21. DP507893) In 1828 Hugh and Anne were still inParramatta, both Protestant, and in their own household High said to be aged 61 and Ann 50 years old. High McIlroy's DEATH is recorded in 1833 NSW BDM register as "Hugh "Muckleroy".
