John Hughes at Port Sorell, per Garland Grove, F.S., for larceny, sentence-2 months, a labourer, native place England, 64 yrs old, 5 feet 8 1/4 inches high, frequents at Westbury & Deloraine. Tasmania Police Gazette, 6th June 1872, p95. Prisoner discharged from HM Gaol & Houses of Correction, Hobart Town & Launceston during the week of the 20th July & the 24th July 1872. At Launceston, John Hughes, per Garland Grove, tried at Torquay on the 20 May 1872 for larceny, served 2 months, native place Dublin, age 54 years, 5 feet 8 inches high, light brown hair. Tasmania Police Gazette, 26th July 1872, p124.
