1872 - QUEENS ORPHAN SCHOOL. Application for admission 29 February 1872; FATHER; Joseph Hunt, MOTHER Bridget Henigan " On the 13th a woman named Bridget Henigan per E. London with a little girl about 13 years old [Maria Hunt aka Maria Lee] was picked up by the Ross Police in a state of starvation. The mother was admitted to the Campbell Town Hospital having cancer in the womb. She remained there until 27 October when she left of her own accord. The child was admitted to the Police Station untill the 19 October when a place in service was procured for her. The master has been anxious to get rid of her and refused to keep her any longer.
