On the marriage certificate of Samuel's daughter, Elizabeth Hunt (married William Whittle 5 March 1845) Elizabeth's mother is recorded as "Elizabeth Hunt, Widow and Mother". The family had recently moved from Parramatta, where Samuel Hunt had absconded from bail on 30 October 1837, to Montefiores/Wellington. It is unlikely that Elizabeth Hunt wanted her new neighbours to know that her husband was missing after absconding bail. Samuel did return to the family in Wellington about mid 1856 but died 2 years later.

Samuel was granted an absolute pardon 1st Jan 1835 due to being sentenced by government entrapment, later transported to Tasmania for sheep stealing www.pentrichrevolution.org.uk www.spanglefish.com/pentrichrevolution
