The Cornwall Chronicle, 30 Nov 1850: Ticket of Leave - Terence Hunt, Ratcliffe. Indent record: Father - Andy Brother - Patrick Sister - Mary all at Native Place Terence Hunt departed Launceston, Tasmania on 30/03/1852 on the ship 'Vixen' (steerage passenger) for Melbourne, Victoria. Noted that he came to the Colonies per 'Ratcliffe' but now Free by Servitude. (ref. Tas Archives POL 221/1/1 pg 635.




Terence Hunt was convicted at Wexford County, Ireland on 27/02/1845 for stealing - tobacco & fruit (with Thomas Grady - also onboard the 'Ratcliffe'). Previous conviction. 7yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Ratcliffe', arriving 30/08/1845. Gaol Report: bad - convicted before Ship Surgeon's Report: troublesome Aged 17yrs; single man; labourer; not literate; 5'4 3/4"; Roman Catholic; native place of birth - Co. Wexford; blue eyes; brown hair; fresh complexion, freckled; stout made. Station Gang: 15mths, Saltwater River. Assignments in Colony, including Richmond, Launceston, Patterson's Plains, Westbury, Tunbridge, Campbell Town & West Tamar. Ticket of Leave - 26/11/1850 Free Certificate - 06/03/1852
