Circuit Court, Glasgow. William Hunter, accused of breaking into the house of Mr. Freeland, -liugh-street, on the ?0th Jan., 1825, and stealing therefrom about  £?0, and a sugar cannister, pleaded Guilty, and was sentenced to transportation for life.  It may be recollected that Campbell and Brown, his supposed accomplices, were tried for this housebreaking 12 months ago and acquitted. Hunter could not then be found. Glasgow Herald, 5 May 1826. Hulk Records. HO-9-7_2 (page 41/48) Retribution Hulk at Sheerness. Received from Edinburgh, 7 June 1826. Wm. Hunter, age 26, Ho. Breakg. Tried at Glasgow, 29 April 1826, Life, To NSW 31 July 1826.

Government Notice. COLONIAL SECRETARY'S OFFICE, SYDNEY. March 23,1829. AT the Recommendation of the Bench of Magistrates at Inverary, His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to grant Tickets of Leave to William Hunter, per Speke, and Thomas Timms,per Manlius, for their exemplary Conduct in assisting to capture two armed and Mounted Bushrangers, named George Groves and James M'Colville.
