Daughter Bridget HURLEY does not appear to have been admitted to the Queens Orphanage. There is a death for a Bridget HURLEY, convict's child on 20 June 1851 at Hobart, aged 5 months, cause - diarrhea. Mother's name not stated.(ref. 35/1/3 no. 797).




Mary Hurley was convicted of stealing flannel. 7yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Blackfiar' 1851. Widow; kitchen maid; aged 32yrs; 3 children - one onboard with her, Bridget 12mths old. Various assignments of service in Colony. Married James McDonald 4 July 1854 at Campbell Town, Tasmania. Ticket of Leave July 1855. Certificate of Freedom 14 July 1857 at Campbell Town, Tasmania.
