Winifred HUSSEY was convicted at Galway on 14 March 1850 for arson (house burning). 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Blackfriar' arriving 1851. Aged 30yrs; country servant; single; 5'3 3/4"; Roman Catholic. Native Place: Co. Galway, Ireland. Stated her sister Biddy was living in VDL colony, a free woman. Assigned to work services in Hobart and also time at the House of Correction. 6 Sept 1853: Ticket of Leave granted. 24 July 1855: Married John Mannion (transported per Blenheim). (ref. RGD37/14 : 1855/654 ) 30 Jan 1857: Charged with assault and robbery. Committed for trial. 11 Feb 1857: Hobart Supreme Court - 12mths imprisonment with hard labour. House of Correction, Cascades, Hobart. 18 Jan 1858: Certificate of Freedom.
