1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

Most of these were farmers, farm workers, or in carrying businesses.




There is a Facebook page called The Hutley Families in Australia as most with the name Hutley in Australia are descended from William.




The NSW Death Certificate for Elizabeth STOCK (nee HUTLEY) (1886, #13568) lists "children of the marriage" Anne 38, George 30, William 28. Thus, it is possible that Ann(e) STOCK and William HUTLEY were neice/uncle. I am a direct line descendant of William (died 1919).




7/12/1832 Chelmsford Chronicle Essex, England: ESSEX GAOL DELIVERY, William Hutley, 15, and Moses Sapsford, 16, labourers, charged with having broken open the dwellirg-liouse of Samuel Gilbey, in the day-time, and stolen two sovereigns, a watch, and other articles, at Stansted Mountfitchet. - Death recorded. 1843: TOL Wellington. 7/10/1844: TOL Passport, Wellington Bench. 25/9/1845: TOL Passport, Wellington Bench. 31/12/1847: CP 1881: William Hutley died - in the district of Lismore, NSW.




Married Mary Ann Hatch -Williams in Calula NSW on 5 May 1844/450 had 4 Boys 1 Girl. Partner with Ann Stock 1861 and had another 4 boys as per death certificate. Parents were Benjamin Hutley 1773-1845and Susan Reagan(Redgen)1782-
