CRIMES/PUNISHMENT: Indictment File: Taken from Salop Assizes in 1836: .....'The jurors for our Lord and the King upon their Oath present that James Hyde late of the Parish of Shifnall in the Country of Salop, labourer, and Thomas Owen late of the same, labourer, on the eighteenth day of April in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Six with force and arms at the Parish aforesaid in the County afresaid in and upon one Matthew Hollinshead in the peace of God and our said Lord and the King then and there being feloniously did make an assault and the said Matthew Hollinshead in corporal fear and danger of his life then and there feloniously did put and one watch of the value of forty shillings, two shirts of the value of five shillings, two quarts of beans of the value of eighteen pence and three pints of peas of the value of eighteen pence of the goods and chattels of the said Matthew Hollinshead from the person and against the will of the said Matthew Hollinshead feloniously did take and carry away against the peace of our Lord the King his Crown and Dignity.'.
