Family connections for George (Ibbetson) are: IBBETSON George (Ibbetson) was born on 4 9 1790 & became a labourer. He was tried for stealing a horse while apparantly running away from a bastardry charge at York Assizes Yorkshire, sentenced to Life, held on hulk at Sheerness River Medway Kent & arrived in NSW as a convict on 5 4 1818 after a voyage of 6months on BATAVIA; he was 5'6" ruddy complexion black hair hazel eyes. He became bullock driver/trainer. He was a landowner when he married secondly Mary Ann (Mcal/lister age15) on 16 1 1819. He died on 19 9 1863 age73 father of 5known children & was buried at Gannons Forest cemetery. On Sunday morning the following male convicts left the Castle, in order to be delivered on board the Hulks lying at Sheerness, below Chatham, up the river Medway, viz.: — Joseph Pritchard and Anthony Wilson, convicted at the last Assizes of burglary; and George Tallantyne and George Ibbetson, convicted of horse-stealing, to be severally transported for life; and Wm. Raper, for felony, to be transported for seven years. York Herald, 12 July 1817.

George was 26, 5'6" tall, black hair, hazel eyes, ruddy complexion. The charge was horse theft but apparently he was running away from a bastardry charge, or trying to, when he stole the horse to escape. He married Mary Ann McAllister who was born in the colony, the daughter of 2 sonvicts on 27/5/1803, nearly half his age. Mary died 4/11/1845. George was a Bullock trainer/Driver and he died 19/9/1863 and is buried at Gannon's Forest Cenetery NSW.
