Jess or Janet IRVING was convicted at Edinburgh, Scotland on 12 July 1827 for theft of clothing. Several previous convictions. Life sentence - to be transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Borneo', arriving there 1828. Married woman. Husband George Irving, a shoemaker at Edingburgh, but she had been living separated from him and now believed him to be dead. Aged 34 yrs; married (maiden name not stated); servant; 5'4" height. Native place of birth: Edingburgh, Scotland. (ref. Convict description record) VDL: Assigned to work service. Spent some time at the House of Correction, Hobart. Last note on record in 1831.
