1847, 17 October: John ISHERWOOD died in the General Hospital, Hobart (see Tasmania, Australia, Convict Court and Selected Records, 1800-1899; Register; Registers of convict deaths, 1845-1874). 1847, 22 October: John ISHEWOOD [sic], 24, per Neptune – bond, Protestant – was buried in the grounds of the Prisoners’ Barracks, at Hobart, having been a patient in the General Hospital at Hobart. The ceremony was performed by Wm Hesketh (see https://librariestas.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/ Resource RGD34/1/2 no 1614). 1847, 3 November: A pardon too late – this notice appeared in the Colonial Times (Hobart) on 12 November, 1847: “CONVICT DEPARTMENT. Comptroller-General's Office. 3rd Nov., 1847. It is hereby notified to the undermentioned, individuals, that it is the intention of his Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor, to recommend them to the consideration of her Majesty the Queen for Conditional Pardons:- … John Isherwood, Neptune…” Note: Records show he was granted a Conditional Pardon No.80/1/49 in 1849! (see The Cornwall Chronicle, Launceston, Wed 7 Feb 1849, p360)


1846 Muster: John ISHERWOOD per Neptune 1838, life, was the holder of a 3rd Class Pass and Passport; he was in the service of Mr James at Hobart. A notation says he died on 17 October 1847 (see NSW and Tasmania, Australia Convict Musters, 1806-1849; Tasmania Ledger Returns A-R, 1846). 1846, 5 December: Ticket of Leave: From the Cornwall Chronicle (Launceston), p948 – “His Excellency the Administrator of the Government has been pleased to grant tickets-of-leave to the under-mentioned convicts: … John Isherwood, Neptune…”


1837: John ISHERWOOD, tried at the Lancaster Quarter Sessions and sentenced to life (see Tasmania, Australia, Convict Court and Selected Records, 1800-1899; Register; Comprehensive register of convicts (CORE SERIES) A - L, 1804-1841). 1838, 18 January: Two Isherwoods arrived in VDL, per Neptune -- John ISHERWOOD and James ISHERWOOD. Both were tried at the same court and received the same sentences, life. It's suspected they were related.
