The 'Kitty' merchant built ship at Sunderland in 1787. In 1790 she carried slaves from the Gold Coast to Jamaica. Then in 1792 she transported convicts and goods from England to New South Wales, Australia. Voyage to Australia: After leaving England in March 1792 she sprung a leak and had to return to Spithead for repairs, departing again in April. 8 of the 10 male prisoners escaped. Only 30 female convicts, 3 died during the voyage. Carried supplies of stores and provisions for the Colony.

Catherine was tried in Dublin in 1790 and sentenced to transportation for 7 years. On 30th October 1796, she married John Tarlington (Convict, Matilda, 1791) at Parramatta. John and Catherine had a daughter Mary, Born 8th January 1800. Catherine is recorded in some of the muster records. Muster 1806: Ref A2425 page 60; Catherine Jackson, Kitty, with John Forrington, Parramatta. Muster 1806: Ref C0727 page 166; Kitty, Jackson, Catherine, Married, 1 Female child. Muster 1811: Ref 3048 page 67; Female Convict, Jackson, Catherine, Kitty, Tried Dublin 1790. 7 years. Catherine died 18 March 1811, at Parramatta. John remarried later, to Margaret Duggan (Convict, Experiment, 1804)
