The Humble Petition of Joseph Jackson, Sheweth That your Excellency’s Petitioner received Sentence of Transportation for Life, March 27 1809 and arrived in this Colony per Gambier 2nd, September 29 1811. That your Excellency’s Petitioner during his residence in the Colony has always conducted himself with the strictesl Diligence, sobriety and Circumspection. Your Petitioner begs leave to state, during his residence as a Govt. Assigned servant to Robert Chapman at the Cow Pastures, he accompanyed Mr John Warby in the excursion in quest of the natives Which circumstance your Excellency requested to be mentioned at the prescribed season for addressing Petitions to your Excellency. Your Petitioner therefore now begs leave to address your Excellency in humble hope you will be pleased to take his case into your gracious consideration and grant him a Ticket of Leave. And your Petitioner as in duty bound will ever pray. I do certify the Petitioner Joseph Jackson was our Govt.
