Convict Notes


Following the death of his first wife, Catherine, Charles went on to marry Christina Tichborne (Tichbourne), who was born around 1836 in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. They lived in the Sale region of Victoria and had several children. Charles died in his sleep in 1884, aged 65. Christina lived to 83 years of age, passing away in 1919.




Charles Jacobs was 28 years old on arrival and was transported for housebreaking and stealing silver spoons. Charles was born in Tiverton, Devon, was 5'4 1/2" tall, could read and write a little, single, sandy hair and whiskers, grey eyes, much pockpitted. 1848: TOL 10/12/1851: Free Certificate. 10/9/1850: Married Catherine Coddington (listed as Cuddington) per Majestic 1838. No children found. Catherine died in 1855.
