Summer Assizes. At Hereford Assizes, Benj. Jakeman and Jos. Clement, for horse-stealing; … severally received sentence of death, but were, all reprieved before the Judges left town. New Times, 11 Aug 1820.

New South Wales, Australia, Certificates of Freedom, Eleanor Scully 30/8/1844 no 44/1271 States wife of Benjamin Jakeman. Also states "10 July 1849 cleared out on the Elizabeth Archer for California" Checked the passenger lists but cannot find her name although there are wives listed but no names

Benjamin was 19 years old when transported. He was the son of Job 1777-1836 and Jane Bradbury 1781-1807. Colonial Secretary Papers: JAKEMAN, Benjamin. Per "Speke", 1821 1823 Jul 30: On return of convicts discharged from the Establishment, Emu Plains; to Mr Ryley (Reel 6028; 2/8283 p.147) 1837: TOL Parramatta 10/6/1837 Married Eleanor/Ellen Scully (Andromeda 1834) aged 17 in Sydney. (He was 33) The marriage was listed as Benjamin Jackman to Ellen Scully. They were married at St Johns, Parramatta. (Ellen was listed as being 24 years old on arrival in NSW on the Irish convict records site). No children found under Jakeman or Jackman. 28/5/1838: TOL Passport Parramatta Bench 1845: TOL Goulburn 30/7/1847: CP 1869: Benjamin died at Liverpool, NSW aged 69
