Marriage: He married Mary Hancox on 4 March 1817 in Liverpool, Greater Sydney, New South Wales. Occupation: In December 1819, he was a constable in The Cow Pastures, Southern Tablelands, New South Wales. Children: James and Mary had several children, including James (born around 1814), William (born on 6 November 1815), Harriet, and Maria1. Death: James Eldridge passed away in 1860 in Goulburn, Southern Tablelands, New South Wales.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint James Eldridge and William Blackman (the former in the Room of Robert Sells, resigned) to be Constables in the District of the Cow Pastures, for the Protection of the wild and tame Herds belonging to the Crown in those Districts, -James Eldridge is to be stationed at Lowe's Hill, and William Blackman at Mulgoa Forest.
