Tried 18 July 1835 at Oxford Assizes and sentenced to transportation for life for sheep stealing. Married with 4 children. 72564 French James - Strathfieldsaye 1836. 22 April 1842 Newcastle gaol State Archives NSW; Gaol Entrance Book, Item: 2/2020; Roll: 757. James French, Ralph Higginson, John Kibble and William Cooper admitted to Newcastle gaol from Merton on a charge of robbing a dray. Sent for trial. 173061 French James - Strathfieldsaye 1836. 3 September 1842 Newcastle Gaol State Archives NSW; Gaol Entrance Book, Item: 2/2020; Roll: 757. Admitted to Newcastle gaol from Maitland.
