James Heather was listed as 19 years old on arrival, born 1823 - family websites have him born 1818. Place of birth: Godalming. Previous convictions: once for apples 6 weeks; similar offence 6 mths; 3 weeks for fighting; breaking a window 3 weeks; 2 mths for wood; 3 weeks for trespass. James could read, was single, 5'7ΒΌ" tall, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, mole, WHCN GH inside right arm, several blue dots inside left wrist, blue marks back of right hand, ####?, blue mark left side of nose. 17/4/1849: TOL 16/2/1852: Free Certificate. 13/3/1869: Married Mary Ann Cranston (Elizabeth and Henry 1847) at Campbell Street, Hobartown. Mary Ann was previously married to Daniel McNab Roger 25/2/1853. James Heather and Mary Ann had children before they were married: 15/10/1854: James 18/1/1866: Female 30/11/1868: William There was also a Henry. Mary Ann had had 7 children by the time she and James Heather married. HEATHER.-On Saturday, February 23, 1895, at Hobart, James Heather, aged 77 years. Funeral will leave No, 2, Warwick Street. on TUESDAY, February 26, at 9 a.m., when friends are invited to attend.
