James Jordan was transported on the Friendship, departing 24th Aug 1799 and arriving 16th Feb 1800 with 161 passengers.
This convict ship, being 274 tons and 75 feet long was one of the light weight ships in the fllet and was skippered by Master Francis Walton. Built in Scarborough in 1784, she carried 76 male and 21 female convicts. During her return voyage to England her crew came down with scurvy and with insufficient crew to man her, she was scuttled in the straights of Macassar. The survivors were transferred to the Alexander.

Family connections for James (Jordan) are: JORDAN James (Jordan) was sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 16 2 1800 after a journey of 6months on Fleet ship FRIENDSHIP. He was an emancipist labourer when he married Eleanor (King-perhaps her second marriage) on 19 4 1813 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. He was recorded in 1825 as husband of Eleanor (King) at Appin. James (Jordan does not have an entry on this Website as yet: added by me. Eleanor (King alias (Duffy) & (Jordan)) was born on 16 10 1764. She was tried for theft, on 8 8 1811, of bedroom furniture (curtains?) of Richard (Howard) at probably Old Bailey on 18 9 1811, sentenced to 7years, held at London Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict after 6 12 1812 after a voyage of 6months on MINSTREL accompanying INDEFATIGIBLE. She was recorded in 1818 as single. She was recorded in 1820 as married living at Liverpool. She was recorded in 1825 as wife of James (Jordan) at Appin. She died on 11 8 1828 age63 at Campbelltown & was buried, as (Jordan), at St Peters CofE Campbelltown.
