James McArdle was convicted at Monaghan, Ireland for larceny on 11 April 1840. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to New South Wales, Australia per the ship "Pekoe" arriving 7 Nov 1840. Noted on records that his son, Patrick McArdle, accompanied him, as a free youth. 8 Nov 1841: Charged with neglect of duty. 14 days in the Cells, Newcastle Gaol. 1 Nov 1845: Obtained Ticket of Leave. Paterson district, NSW.
