The following convicts under sentence of transportation have been removed from Lincoln Castle to the following hulks ; viz ….. And on board the Captivity at Portsmouth, ... and Robt. Grant, James Morley, … for the term of seven years. Stamford Mercury, 23 Jan 1818.
Committed to Louth House of Correction on the 21th instant, (by the Rev. Thos. Roe, and the Rev. John Mouncev,)Â Robert Grant, Jos. Grant and James Morley, (three men who had their dwelling the Fen,) for stealing two pigs the property of Mr. Hill, of Greetham, and six bushels of barley and a large quantity of oats, the property of Mr. Stephen Bourn of Little Ashby. . Stamford Mercury, 28 Feb1817. Lindsey Sessions. Robert Grant, of Coningsby, and James Morley, of Thimbleby, laborers, convicted of stealing two pigs and two shuttles from Christopher Hill, of Greetham, were sentenced to be transported for seven years. Labourer of Thimbley at Greetham. Charged with breaking into the barn of Christoper Hill, farmer at Greetham and stealing 2 corn scuttles and killing and taking away 2 pigs from the crew yard adjoining the barn. Also accused of breaking into barn of Stephen Bourne of Ashby Puerorum, farmer and stealing a quantity of undressed pats and 6 strikes of barley but was not tried on that charge. Convicted with Robert Grant. Joseph Grant of Coningsby labourer was also accused but did not appear in court. James Morley died in Mickleham, Gisborne Victoria aged 84.
