409 – James Stones, age 22, arrived 29 Dec 1844, tried at Bombay Court Martial, 2 Oct 1843, transported for 7 years for Insubordination. Stated this offence, throwing my cap at Sergeant Preston, 2nd Queens, Ct. Martial, Insubordination, 9 months hard labour. In 2nd Regiment 2 years. Native of Co. Wicklow, trade, labourer, Roman catholic, can read a little. His conduct record was uneventful, apart from one entry for common assault, for which he was punished by 2 weeks imprisonment and hard labour. Ticket of Leave, 12 Sept 1848. Free Cert, 5 Nov 1850.
