Family connections for James (Walbourn) are: WALBOURNE James/Joseph (Walbourne/Walburn) was born in 1767 in Philadelphia USA. He was tried at probably Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at London Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 22 1 1788 after a voyage of 13months on First Fleet ship SCARBOROUGH: he was 5'8". He married Sophia (Lewis) on 24 3 1788 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. He was sent to Norfolk Island with his wife, arriving on 4 11 1791. He is recorded in Ref:'People' as leaving Norfolk Island with his family on 6 11 1794; however in 1794 he was granted 12acres on Norfolk Island-he was not recorded with that land in 1796. He was sent to Sydney in February 1800. He was left with 1child after he was charged in 1800 with abuse against his wife & ordered to separate, taking 1of his children-William. In December 1800 he enlisted in NSW Corps with his son & was detached to (Townson)s company until 1805 when he was detached to (Grosser)s company. In 1809 he was detached to (Lewis)s company then 6Company. He was transferred to 73rd Regiment in 1810 with which he served in Ceylon from 1814sic. He died on 13 12 1813 age46. She was tried for theft of handkerchiefs etc at probably Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 22 1 1788 after a voyage of 13months on First Fleet ship LADY PENRHYN. She was sent to Norfolk Island with her husband, arriving on 4 11 1791. She left Norfolk Island with her children on 6 11 1794. She sufferred abuse from her husband. She was left with 1child after her husband was charged in 1800 & ordered to separate, taking 1of her children-James. She died on 3 11 1816 age58 by suicide. He left Norfolk Island with his mother on 6 11 1794. After his parents separation >1800 he went with his father by decree. In December 1800 he enlisted as a private/drummer in NSW Corps with his father & was detached to (Townson)s company also until 1805 when he was detached to (Grosser)s company also. He was a drummer when he married Sarah (Peak her second relationship) convict on 26 12 1808 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. In 1809 he was detached to (Lewis)s company then 6Company also. He was transferred to 73rd Regiment also. He was still a drummer when he again married Sarah (Peake/Peak) emancipist/Free by Servitude again on 12 3 1810 at St Phillips CofE Sydney-perhaps due to doubt about legal certainty for the first marriage. In 1810 he served in Ceylon with 73rd Regiment from 1814 also. He died on 21 9 1834 age44. ..Sarah (Pick/Peake/Peak) was born about 1773. She was tried at Gloucester Assizes, sentenced to 14years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 11 3 1803 after a voyage of 6months on HMS GLATTON. She was an emancipist when she had a first relationship with Richard (Longford his second relationship) whom she later married. She married Richard (Longford) on 15 9 1824 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. She may be the child recorded in 1814 on stores with her father & new partner.
